Xiamen Tsann Kuen Park
The project involved a proposal to redevelop a 57,000m2 former factory site. The design aimed to transform the original industrial area into a cultural node and green lung.
The site layout catered to 6 zones: the Oil Painting Market, Design Centre, Hotel, Service Apartments, School and Health Spa. Elements of the original factories, such as the iconic chimney stack, are preserved and integrated with the new.
Capitalising on the site’s proximity to the Xiamen’s renowned Wu Shi Pu oil painting commune, the new Oil Painting Market would be celebrated as the project’s centrepiece. The design concept also integrated numerous spaces for the display and appreciation of art.
